Principle
35. Transformation Properties
a. Change an aggregate state of an object, concentration of
density, the degree
of flexibility, the temperature
- Principle Description: Change the properties of an object or system to accommodate a useful benefit.
- Hints on Usage: System or object properties include an object’s physical or chemical state, its density, its conductivity, its mechanical flexibility, its temperature, its geometry, etc.
- Changing an object or systems property can be accomplished through many strategies. Consider geometry changes that foster flexibility in on direction and not another. Consider the effect of a temperature change on a system property to induce a state change or property change. Consider the addition of chemicals to induce a property change. Consider utilizing changes in density or conductivity to communicate information about the system.
- Think about what it is that you need, what resources (properties) are available
within the system to accomplish that need, and what relationship those properties
may have with the new functionality you wish to accomplish.
